Armabrand is proud to host its 2008 Student of the year, Lucky Madonsela at the US Presidential Inauguration, Washington, DC. Lucky was chosen as the Armabrand student of the year because of his sheer determination coupled with his outcomes based approach to development. He not only inspires his peers but rallies them together in causes ranging from starting Scholarship funds, mentoring programs and building libraries.
We are proud to announce that not only are we exposing Lucky to stakeholders on the US Inauguration trip, but we will be undertaking co-fundraising efforts with regards to his educational and leadership efforts. Our philosophy is to train and empower our students and then partner with them to extend our ndevelopmental efforts.
Lucky launched the ‘Bafana Madosela Scholarship Foundation (BMSF)’ an initiative that is aimed at awarding partial and full time scholarships with mentoring to Primary & High school students from townships and rural areas. The scholarship covers student’s tuition, school uniform and learning materials/stationery of which all add up to the values of R700 per student (equivalent of $ 70).
The BMSF Foundations main goal is to award a minimum of 25 scholarship per annum which amounts to $1 800 as a short-term goal. This target will enable the foundation to achieve its short-term goal of reaching a minimum of 50 students by the year 2010, while we also achieve our medium term goal of educating over 150 students by the year 2015. These are the Top schools that have been identified as the first beneficiaries of the scholarship awards- Esibonisiwe Primary, Roseview Primary, James Primary, Asser Maloka Primary and M.O.M Seboni High
We have a fundamental belief that once you empower students to make a difference that we should use our influence to partner and extend their reach!
Stay posted as we share Lucky's incredible experience at the US Presidential Inauguration, we'll be uploading photos and videos of this once in a lifetime experience!
